Group Mourns Yakowa, Others

A registered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Youths Against Disaster Initiative (YADI) has expressed its heartfelt condolences with the families and relatives of the victims of Saturday’s Helicopter crash in Bayelsa state.

The Group stated this in a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Mr. Abubakar Jimoh during the weekend in Abuja following the crash of a Helicopter, which conveyed Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa of Kaduna state along with former National Security Adviser to the President Goodluck Jonathan, Gen. Oweye Andrew Azazi (rtd), and others who died while flying from Bayelsa state to Port Harcourt.

He said: “Our thoughts and prayers go to all the victims of the crash. We also send our sympathy to the families, relatives, people of Kaduna state, and every Nigerian in this trying time”

Mr. Jimoh stressed that in recent times, Nigeria has suffered from frequent air disasters which have resulted in serious socio-economic losses to the nation.

While urging individuals operating private jets in the country to always abide by proper safety conduct and other safety rules and regulations as prescribed by the aviation industry.

He commends the effort of various stakeholders such as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Red Cross Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Police Force (NPF), among others which have responded timely and effectively in the search and rescue operations.
